The guided tour does not start

"Walk With the Guide" uses your phone's location to start each story as you arrive, so it only works inside Old Nessebar. Until you reach the town gates it shows how far away they are.

If you are in the old town and nothing happens, check that WalkNessebar may use your location: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → WalkNessebar → While Using the App. Narrow stone lanes can weaken the GPS signal for a moment; walking a few steps into an open spot usually brings it back.

You can also hear every story anywhere, at any time: open EXPLORE, choose "Walk On My Own", and tap through the stops yourself.

Adding another language

WalkNessebar speaks 13 languages. English, Bulgarian, Russian and German are built in. To add any of the other nine, open EXPLORE, tap the flag button and tap the language you want. Each one is about 50 MB, so Wi-Fi is a good idea. There is no extra charge.

A downloaded language stays on your phone and works without an internet connection. To free the space again, tap the bin icon next to it in the same list.

Do I need an internet connection?

The stories, narration and photographs work offline. The map needs a data connection to draw the streets, and downloading a language needs one too.

Sound and battery

The speaker button mutes the background music only; the narration is never muted by it. If you hear nothing at all, check your phone's volume and your headphones.

During the guided tour the screen stays on and GPS is in use, so start with a good charge. A story keeps playing if you lock your phone part-way through.

Refunds

Purchases are made through Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple too. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Privacy and safety

WalkNessebar has no accounts, and we collect nothing about you. What the map service receives, and the short safety notes worth reading before you walk, are both on our Privacy and Safety page.
